Nats win slugfest against Phils
Baseball Betting Lines
09/03/2008 -
Washington, DC (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Ronnie Belliard had the go-ahead RBI
single in the eighth and Cristian Guzman hit a bases-clearing, three-run
double to put the game out of reach as the Nationals notched a 9-7 victory
over the Philadelphia Phillies in the rubber match of a three-game set from
Nationals Park.
Ryan Zimmerman homered and doubled to finish with two RBI and as many runs
scored while Guzman finished with three hits and a pair of runs scored for
Washington, which has won an impressive eight of nine overall. Saul Rivera
(5-5) got the win after pitching a scoreless eighth.
Ryan Howard belted two home runs with four RBI while Chase Utley finished with
a pair of RBI for Philadelphia, which dropped two of three in the series to
fall three game back of the NL-East leading New York Mets, who posted a 9-2
win over Milwaukee earlier Wednesday.
Starter Joe Blanton recorded his sixth straight no-decision after allowing
four runs on six hits and three walks over four-plus innings for the Phils,
while Odalis Perez surrendered three runs on four hits over five frames
without walking a batter while striking out five for the Nats.
Chad Durbin (5-4) remained in the eighth after coming on in the seventh and
allowed a leadoff single to Kory Casto. Pete Orr came on as a pinch-runner,
moved to second on a wild pitch and to third on a Roger Bernadina single.
Pinch-hitter Belliard then gave Washington the lead with a single to left.
J.C. Romero entered for Durbin with one away and Bernadina stole third before
Emilio Bonifacio walked to load the bases. Guzman then stroked a bases-
clearing double to the gap in left-center and the Nats had a 9-5 advantage.
Closer Joel Hanrahan took the mound in a non-save situation in the ninth and
gave up an RBI double to Matt Stairs and a sac fly to Utley, but was able to
ultimately preserve the win.
Philadelphia jumped out to an early lead in the opening frame when Howard
deposited a blast over the wall in right-center for a 2-0 advantage.
The Nationals, however, evened the score in the next inning. Guzman got a
base-hit through the left side and scored on a Zimmerman double to right.
Lastings Milledge popped up for the second out, but Casto came through with a
two-out RBI single to left.
The Phillies took the lead in the third when Jimmy Rollins got on with a
single, moved to second on a wild pitch and scored easily when Utley ripped a
triple to deep center.
The Nationals came back to take a 4-3 lead after loading the bases with no
outs in the fifth. Blanton exited in favor of Ryan Madson, who allowed a pair
of runs to score on consecutive fielder's choice groundouts from Milledge and
Elijah Dukes before getting Casto on strikes to end the inning.
The lead was short-lived, however, as Howard cranked out his second two-run
homer of the night for a 5-4 Phillies lead off the newly inserted Marco
Estrada.
Scott Eyre got two quick outs to start the seventh before Durbin entered to
face Zimmerman, who tied the game with a home run over the center field wall.
Game Notes
The Phillies lead the season series 9-6 including a 6-3 mark in Washington...
Philadelphia is 3-4 so far on a 10-game trek and open a big three-game series
against the Mets at Shea Stadium on Friday...Howard hit his 38th and 39th home
runs of the season and now has a NL-best 119 RBI.

Terrell Owens could return for Cowboys next game
A bye week will allow Terrell Owens broken hand to recover just in time for the next game the Dallas Cowboys are slated to play, according to reports. MySportsbook.com, an football sportsbook, has posted football betting lines on TO playing.
Owens broke the bone leading to his right ring finger Sunday night and had a plate surgically attached to it Monday. Although Owens' hand was swollen and aching Wednesday, Dallas Cowboys coach Bill Parcells said he's optimistic the receiver will be back at work next week and catching passes a week from Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.
MySportsbook.com online sportsbook listed Terrell Owens with odds of 7-2 (or $7 paid out for every $2 bet) to return back for the game against Tennessee.
"I certainly wouldn't rule it out now," Parcells said, referring to Terrell Owens immediate return. "Maybe five days from now I might, but I wouldn't rule it out now. ... I know we're looking to try to get him moving around pretty good in the next day or so. So we'll see where we are."
Owens did not speak with reporters Wednesday, but said Sunday he'd be out two to four weeks. A return against the Titans would be 13 days after the surgery. The Cowboys were listed as an early -7 1/2 favorite vs. the Tennessee Titans for Week 4 at MySportsbook.com

Matt Kenseth And Kevin Harvick Favorites To Take NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship
(September 15, 2007)—The NASCAR season has hit the homestretch with the opening event on this year’s Chase for the Cup taking place this weekend at the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire International Speedway. With 10 races remaining to determine the Cup Series champion, leading online sportsbook MySportsbook.com today announced odds on all 10 Chase qualifying drivers capturing the 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup Championship.
One of the largest sportsbook sites on the Internet, MySportsbook.com currently lists the top two drivers in the point standings as the early favorites to win the Nextel Cup. Entering the Chase for the Cup with a slim five-point lead in the point standings, 2003 NASCAR champ Matt Kenseth has been made a slight favorite to win his second Cup at 7/2 betting odds. 2001 Cup Rookie of the Year Kevin Harvick has betting odds listed at 5/2 and four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon is listed at 6/1 to capture the Nextel Cup this year.
Hoping to follow in the footsteps of his legendary father who won six NASCAR titles, Dale Earnhardt Jr. stands at 8/1 to breakthrough with his first Cup victory. Staying with the family theme, MySportsbook.com lists 2005 Rookie of the Year Kyle Busch at 14/1 to succeed big brother Kurt’s 2004 NASCAR title. While Kasey Kahne was the final driver to qualify for the Chase with a third place finish last week, the oddsmakers give him a fighting chance at 10/1 mainly due to several mile-and-a-half tracks remaining on the schedule. Despite going winless on the NASCAR circuit this season, Jeff Burton enters the Chase at 5/1 to capture the Cup title. Meanwhile, rookie Denny Hamlin is 4/1 to win the championship, while veteran driver Mark Martin enters the Chase for the Cup as a 15/1 long shot to win his first NASCAR title in his 24th and final season.
MySportsbook.com will offer comprehensive Nascar betting odds on every race remaining on the Nextel Cup series including driver match-ups, props and odds to win each race. For a complete list of NASCAR odds, please visit www.MySportsbook.com.
